Crime and Drugs

Substance misuse has strong links to criminal activity and anti social behaviour therefore the Essex Drug & Alcohol Action Team works closely with the whole criminal justice system, including police custody, HM Prison, Courts and in the community to help reduce related harm in Essex.

The range of work that we do in partnership includes:
Ensuring that substance misusing offenders have access to treatment reducing the likelihood that they will offend again.

Assisting ex-offenders who are leaving prison to obtain treatment for substance misuse when they are released.

Identifying patterns of drug use, allowing supply to be disrupted.

In all of this work our key objective is to make Essex a safer place and thereby to make a significant contribution to community well being.
