What is the Essex Drug and Alcohol Action Team (EDAAT)?

Key objectives of EDAAT in 2009 are:

1. To increase strategic direction to ensure that Essex specific drug and alcohol issues are addressed by:

  • Developing existing Drug & Alcohol Partnership working

  • Championing Drug & Alcohol Partnership Commissioning, Criminal Justice, Locality and Young Persons objectives and initiatives

2. To increase operational performance via effective performance management, finely tuned commissioning forums and effective locality working


3. To raise the visibility of EDAAT and EDAP in both partner domain and the local community

EDAAT Core Business:

Commissioning
To commission and performance manage quality services on behalf of EDAP for adults, children and young people across Essex.

Criminal Justice Project Management
To secure and performance manage an effective Drug Interventions Programme and its supporting infrastructure across Essex. In 2009 the EDAAT Criminal Justice Team will also develop the criminal justice agenda EDAP wide.

Localities
To strengthen Essex locality voices by local performance management and strong two way communications with Drug and Alcohol Reference Groups (DARGs) and other local groups to positively influence EDAP strategies and commissioning.

Partnership Co-ordination
To effectively co-ordinate EDAP partners to ensure alignment of key objectives and continually develop partnership working to the benefit of service users and the communities of Essex.

Service Users
To listen and learn from service users and ensure that their voice positively influences all EDAP working.

Regional and National Links
To produce a seamless link between Essex substance misuse work and National and Regional standards and best practice.
